Planning a marquee wedding and struggling to find inspiration for your flowers…?

Worry not; we caught up with Hannah from Hannah Berry Flowers who always inspires…

I love that the client has the opportunity to choose the style of the marquee, colour of the lining/floor and furniture, which means, when it comes to the flower scheme, I don’t have to compete with a garish patterned carpet and obscure additional furnishings.

Most traditional marquees tend to offer a large white space, so this is where my floral designs, prop hire and experience can help to transform this empty space ready for any wedding party!

Your table designs are important and will create impact on arrival into the marquee, so choosing suitable designs to reflect your scheme is a great starting point. High table designs will create instant impact, giving the illusion that the marquee is lower than it actually is, creating a cosy and inviting feel. However, when developing ideas for high table centres bear in mind the floor of the marquee; tall glass vases will need to sit comfortably on a level table with minimum wobble.

If high designs aren’t your style, a low table design can also create a lovely intimate atmosphere. Using props such as natural log rounds or stacked books will add interest and additional height to low designs, lifting them just slightly higher than the wine glasses. Incorporating candle light in these designs will also create depth and mood lighting.

If you are feeling adventurous, why not create a floral installation that can be hung above the tables, or maybe decorate a fixed pole with a large ball of beautiful flowers and foliage. This will add impact and a wash of colour into the marquee, complimenting your table designs and pulling through the continuity of the flower scheme

Vintage props are also popular amongst marquee weddings. A vintage bike filled with natural blooms looks great styled at the entrance of a marquee, where as an old vintage wooden ladder out of the garden shed can lend itself well as a table plan, accompanied by a couple of potted herbs and organic luggage tags. Striped deck chairs and hay bales with blankets casually placed over them can create alternative, fun seating. Or why not go all out; try having your very own Gypsy Bowtop Caravan on show!
